Re: Hello again

Hi all, I don't know how long I'll be about here, it rather depends if any inspiration strikes. I have been looking at the fragments that I have lying around on my disc drive, but nothing sparks yet. Had a play with my old ModuleMaker BBC Basic program which produced Adrift modules to import, but I ...

Hello again

I've been lurking around this week and it has seemed rather quiet, so I thought I'd chuck a post up to stir the pot.

Re: Hello Drifters

You certainly can customise it. You can make and rename the tiled areas and drag things around. By pinning apps to the start menu you can drag them around the areas - I just did. Who wouldn't want a group of apps called "Wizz bang crash wallop!"?

Re: Hello Drifters

Hi Po!

I am getting used to Win 10 five days in - not much difference really. Have had Win 7 for a while and avoided Win 8 like the plague - it was really meant for touch screen which I don't have on desktop.

Re: Hello Drifters

Certainly agree default Windows 10 is bland, then again if it was eye-popping we'd all be up in arms. I reckon with time we'll find a decent setup that looks a bit prettier. I am about to find something that makes Office 13 more useable rather than the hateful ribbons where I spent 10 minutes findin...

Re: Hello Drifters

Hi David, long time no see! Yeah, I did move on to other things, but I still have a soft spot for Adrift - sadly just not the creativity.

Media player is there, at least I just opened it - look in All Apps under Windows Media Player

Re: Hello Drifters

Hi 10 seems fine so far - it isn't much different, though having some audio issues just now (probably my setup). Up grade itself was smooth and done in just over an hour. It was a free upgrade from Windows 7. The joke the rounds is that Windows 8(ate) Windows 9. They intend 10 as the last version of...

Hello Drifters

Having just updated to Windows 10, on a whim, I installed the latest version of Adrift. That made me think of here and hope that things are well with everyone. Doubt this is much of a return, more just a pleasant visitation to the past.

Re: Properties or variables

I'll admit my knowledge of V5 is minimal, but I can see that properties are obviously useful due to the relationship with a game item. There should still a use for variables for controlling game structures such as loops and to provide temporary storage as things are manipulated.

Re: Who first?

I have a sneaking feeling that it won't be me, though I did actually make a start on something - I feel very out of my depth these days!

Re: Current version of the Adrift 5.0 and the next?

If in Developer you look at the Settings screen then at the bottom of the general tab is a tick box that says "Check for new version on startup". If that is ticked then Adrift should tell you if a new version becomes available. The current version is 5.0.31.4

Click "Download Now" just below "To complete your download, click on the link below:"

It will take you to a new page and your download should start. Ignore the Download buttons on the right and at the bottom of the screen.

Re: Adrift End of the Year Comp.t

I think, and it pains me to say it, in many ways it was easier and more productive to work with the more limited tool set of Adrift 3.9 (Sorry Campbell, I don't mean to belittle your amazing work). Beyond that there is so much to think about when then you just did what you could and your players kne...

Re: Adrift End of the Year Comp.t

Well, then maybe people should start to donate some money to show their appreciation? (This was not aimed at you Eric, but just a general observation) Which is why I recently did. I like the whole donatonware thing as it means no one is actually barred by cost, but it does mean that those...
