I'm curious to see how he handles registration for currently registered users. Is he just going to hand out new keys, or will the registered users site make a comeback?

Vista is actually fine. The only thing I recommend is to turn off UAC. Nothing is more irritating, and something as simple as creating a new folder requires 2 verifications to do so. Also, some programs won't be able to write to the disk with UAC turned on, which is a pain. As long as you have the ...

While I agree that Adrift is less powerful than tier 1 makers, I believe that it's powerful enough to make some excellent IF. It's not impossible to make an Adrift game that could take first place on IFComp, it's just that no one has done it yet. The reason that there is a lot of bad IF out there m...

I'm replying to this so you don't think the forum is a dead and desolate place, even though it kind of resembles that right now. Welcome to the rather slow-moving ADRIFT forums! It's worth sticking around, here's why: - ADRIFT 5 is just around the corner, probably. Many people are holding off on pr...

Zooms along fairly well over here on a 3mb DSL connection. There is the occasional speed hiccup, but it's fleeting and not too irritating.

So you can all hang me if that doesn't happen. We forgave him in a previous post that I can't find. We had a lynch mob ready, with pitchforks and everything, but then we realized that if we were to hang him, there would be nobody to work on Adrift V. Better a late Adrift V than no Adrift V at all.

Q2 2008 still has a few months left. Have patience. He did make it to Alpha status after all, so it's only a small matter of time left now.

At least he didn't get lynched in November like he suggested we do. (Campbell.) Then we might never see it.

The invention of the silicon transistor, and the forthcoming miniaturization thereof. The discovery of flight. The creation of a global network of media and communication. Actually, what might be interesting are the seemingly small events that had a ripple effect, resulting in a massive global chan...

I see her spinning clockwise, and no matter how hard I focused, squinted, or tried to trick my brain, I could not, for the life of me, see her spinning any direction other than clockwise. I would consider myself a fairly middle-brained person. Edit: Woah... I was able to get her to turn counter-clo...

WOO!!! I noticed this on the news page and snatched up my upgrade yesterday. Though it looks like I didn't cross my fingers hard enough, as release 50 wasn't the last release of ADRIFT IV. * Moving first object from worn to same room as player causes stack overflow This fixed a major problem with t...

I think that after the character is introduced; IE: Han Solo esque freight dog in space, the rest can be pure gameplay. Finding the derelict ship on your sensors. Taking some scans. Asking about it on a few planets, then going to find it again so you can land and check it out can all take place in ...

I remember doing this in old Sierra Online adventures, like Space Quest. Little things like that really make a game worthwhile.

That's pretty amazing. I wasn't expecting much, but it's pretty hard to deny by that video. Even if it was trained to paint that brush stroke by stroke, it's pretty incredible that it can have the dexterity to do something like that.
