Re: ECTOCOMP 2013

I'm afraid I'm going to have to admit defeat like DCBSupafly. After a good start with my game, I got tangled up in problems with using v5 and I went way over the time limit just trying to figure out how to make my puzzles work properly. I thought I had a basic grasp on it but I think I can safely sa...

I'm still working on mine so I'll be cutting it close to the deadline but it will be in.

Re: EctoComp 2012

I'm surprised that, in Evil Chicken of Doom Kill Chicken only works once, but doesn't work at all if you have the axe. Kill Chicken with Axe doesn't work. Chop Chicken doesn't work. Attack Chicken doesn't work. I gave up after that. I didn't finish the game as much as I ran out of time so I didn't ...

Re: EctoComp 2012

I just managed to get my entry in, a little late but hopefully it'll still count. Inspired by recent Hollywood remakes/reimaginings/pointless recreations of horror movies like The Thing, The Omen and Carrie, I decided to make The Evil Chicken of Doom 3D, a terrifying modernization of the original ga...

Re: ADRIFT Horror Club

There's no funner genre to write or play which is probably why the Ectocomp usually has a pretty good turnout. As for favourites, the aforementioned epic Ghost Town is definitely one everyone needs to play and David Whyld's The Cellar and slightly less serious The Reluctant Vampire come to mind as w...

Re: New game?

When you're new to ADRIFT, I think there's something so intoxicating in knowing that any game you create can so easily be uploaded and played and critiqued by others that your excitement to contribute and get feedback tends to far outweigh your actual skill with the developer at that point. I was on...

Re: What "commercial" IF game had a BIG impact on your life?

Nord and Bert Couldn't Make Head or Tail of It was and still is a huge influence on me, an incredibly odd anthology of wordplay-based games that is like no other text adventure ever made. I still play it every few years and it's just as wonderfully weird as it was when I played it as a child on my T...

Re: Ectocomp 2011 Results

Congratulations Hannes, you definitely deserve the win after putting so much work into your game, I still can't believe how much you managed to pack in there in only three hours. My game only had four tiny rooms and I still struggled to get it it finished. I thought this was a pretty great Ectocomp ...

Re: Ectocomp

I wrote Death Shack and I'll admit that because I spent all of my three hours focusing on the writing, I had no time to work in any decent puzzles or fine tune it.

Here's a walkthrough if you do get stuck:
Spoiler
climb tree
get object
down
unlock door
open door
in
sit couch

I'm sure I could go back and find some projects I announced in 2001 to finish for their 10th anniversary.
