Oh yeah, I'm voting for me on this one. Adrift let me do what I've always wanted to see in a text adventure; some variety to soften those grinding sessions of trying the same thing over and over, plus a hint of sentience behind the responses, just to make you smile. You are smiling, aren't you? Rig...

Heh, is there such a thing as being "too new"? I posted my first game in late October, and two games hardly qualify me as a proven writer. I certainly appreciate the nod, but personally, I vote for Justahack, who is constantly challenging the limits of what Adrift can do.

Cheers,

Hey Abbi, I don't know if you used my review submittals to calculate my vote or not, but you probably should since I wasn't able to vote in this poll. I clicked on the results button just to see what they were before I had even played the games, so it gave me a null vote. I haven't officially voted...

It's never too late for introductions, so here goes: My name is Rob Roy (yes, actually Rob Roy; there are like a billion of us out there). I first went looking for game engines to produce text adventures back at the turn of the century. Then something shiny appeared and I forgot all about it until ...

Fixed a small circumvention bug. There's no need to re-download it if you haven't come across any strange circumventions.

Cool new use of the game engine. Now I see why your opponent is a brainless zombie. I had to actually think about how to lose to him, lol. Did you experiment to see if it was possible to have the engine create moves based on your prior moves? I would guess that would require some math algorithm bey...

A fun little adventure for those who can't afford to play real Rock Band, lol.

As always comments and criticism are invited.

Glad you are enjoying it, DCBSupafly. If you downloaded it after the update date listed, you've got the latest. Yes, the variety in responses is my answer to games I've played in the past that I wished had given just a little more "sentience" to repeat commands. I hope people feel it adds a freshne...

Elaborating a bit on the ideas we discussed in the Ectocomp 2009 posting, would it be advantageous to have a judge-approved template specifically for competitions? I am thinking of a pre-created file or module that contestants would be required to use in order to level the playing field. It would i...

I liked justahack's description of planning mentioned in the latest Inside Adrift article. I also start with a generic text file to compose my thoughts and lay out the progression of how I want the adventure to work. If it's night, is there a moon? If the player has a wallet, then what's in it? Stu...
