Re: Stereotypes in your games

Why do you have to specify that the guy in West Baltimore is black anyway? The majority of the people playing your game won't know that West Baltimore is a predominently black area, any more than you would know that Brixton in London is predominently black or Southall Asian. Keep it neutral and you ...

Re: IMPORTANT when changing libraries

I assume that if you have started a new game using the StandardLibrary, you cannot then replace that with the Combined Library? Is there a way to fix that if you have started a new game with the standardLibrary?

This is getting complicated! :haha:

So should the library setting be "Never Overwrite"?

Re: Event stopping player movement

Then you simply create a specific task, in which the variable is set to 1, which is called by a sub-event "x" number of moves after the event starts.

Re: Event stopping player movement

I would create a variable which is set to 1 in the task(s) that start the event. Then add a restriction in the exits for the player's location referencing that variable. In the task that is executed when the event ends, set the variable back to zero. Attached is a little demo. I hope it helps. No Go...

Re: Annual IF Comp 2020

The first public IFComp 2020 ADRIFT game review has been written: https://mikespiveyif.home.blog/2020/10/17/return-to-castle-coris/ When I read this review I was quite pleased with it. However, I was annoyed with his criticism of the solution to the puzzle at the rift. I have to ask myself what he ...

Re: Put object ON character?

One way of doing it would be to change the dynamic rose object to a static one and make that part of the character.

You would have to create a general task for this as there is no PUT OBJECT ON CHARACTER task.

See attached demo.

No, you could either click on "Quick Reply" immediately underneath the last message, which then opened the dialogue box as is now open already under the message, or click on the "Reply to Topic" (I think) button, which would open a reply box with the full editor. I much preferred it that way.

New Game - RETURN TO CASTLE CORIS

Hi all, I have now uploaded my new game to the ADRIFT website, Episode 8 in the long-running Adventures of Alaric Blackmoon. In this game, the Duke has returned to Castle Coris where a mysterious tunnel has been found deep underground. Alaric has been invited by the new Baron Coris to investigate wh...

Re: Forum upgrade

I don't like the way the reply window is permanently open at the bottom, why is there no option to turn this off? (Or is there and I can't find it?) I suppose I'll get used to it, there is no other choice after all. :) I also think it would be good if the display was full-screen, the empty gap at th...

Re: Annual IF Comp 2020

I submitted my game, Return To Castle Coris, as well. Just after I did, P.O.Prune found a bug in it which I have had to correct. Will submit new version after I upload the game to the ADRIFT website.

I don't suppose it will get many votes, but it would be nice if I got a few! 8)
