Nevermind, i fixed it, I forgot I put in an alternate description.

Carry on and forget this thread even existed.

Re: Stereotypes in your games

People are playing Adrift games, maybe not that many (yet) but I hope that more people will begin playing Adrift games when there are games like Skybreak available. That's most of the problem, there aren't that many AAA IF available to play on Adrift as there is on other formats like Inform. I'm in...

Re: Stereotypes in your games

But overall I think you're worrying too much: cheer up, nobody plays Adrift games, not even Adrift authors! I was trolled by 2 kids over a book that sold 3 copies, in total, and subsequently put online for free. The next year, I vent "viral" over a book with a terrible cover within certain online c...

Re: Stereotypes in your games

Why do you have to specify that the guy in West Baltimore is black anyway? The majority of the people playing your game won't know that West Baltimore is a predominently black area, any more than you would know that Brixton in London is predominently black or Southall Asian. I guess you're right an...

Stereotypes in your games

Note: While this may seen life a general, almost political discussion, it is very relevant to IF and what we put in our games. In my game , you have a ton of npcs to talk to. The issue is I don't have a lot of time and space to fully flesh all of them out, and in certain cases there is no point to d...

The Networked Mind

I have been using Adrift since 2011 and despite coming back to it over and over again, have never actually finished a complete game. I will change that! Behold: networkedmind.jpg (my book cover artist created this for a very reasonable price) The Networked Mind is a very-sleazy cyberpunk game taking...

I'll try to reproduce in an example file, but I can assure you no text override has been applied.

Apparently, the standard library has typos built in. That is an automatically generated sentence listing description of item in box. I used a text override to fix it, but that should be put on the bug list because I cannot find a way to fix it.

$50 is a lot of money, especially if you have a game with a lot of pictures (like D-Day)
I know it is, but he's well worth the money. I'm not going to have any other art, however. Maybe if I create future games I'll use Fiverr or Freelancer.

Re: Annual IF Comp 2020

I really wanted to include cover art. But I really suck at drawing and I simply didn't have time to look for an artist. Speaking of artists, Lazzah was kind enough to suggest Freelancer.com and I can highly recommend it if any of you guys need an artist. I'm paying my cover artist(who creates cover...

Re: How do I create menus?

I understand now. But how does turning the active menu item to 0 allow for nested sub-menus? I would do that this way: Have variable x. Main menu, X =1, choice 1 sub-menu x= 2 and so on.

How do I create menus?

Alright, so I have this area with a giant crane and a bunch of shipping crates(its a modern port that the player has to visit). I have pondered how to have a crane puzzle in the game, and realized that the best way to do that is with a menu. Ie. pick one of three crates and put them into one of four...

Re: Events repeat when they shouldn't

But just off the top of my head, you should be able to set the player movement command to trigger only once, but making a specific task overriding the default general task: Player movement, and make that non repeatable. Then use that as the starter for your event. You solved my problem, I created a...

Well I can't set the player movement command to trigger only once, so I'm going to have to find another way to do it.

Events repeat when they shouldn't

I have an event that starts when you enter a certain area. Then when I come back into the area, it repeats, but I only want it to run that one time. How do I get it to run once instead of multiple times? I have so that it starts with the completion of player movement, but I think this is wrong. The ...
