Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

All of this is a non-issue as far as voting is concerned anyway. Why? Because the distribution of players over time during the voting period most likely follows a negative exponential curve anyway ( assumption based on the appearance of reviews which does follow such a pattern ). So no matter what ...

Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

So no matter what an author tries, her game will be judged based on the initial version anyway, regardless of later updates. Not necessarily. Anyone who comes to the comp late and downloads the games from that point will most likely end up with an updated version. Even if the original version is th...

Re: Ectocomp 2011 Results

I will buy it (for a considerable amount more than the average, but much much less than the sum of all the included games' individual prices) and send you a code, which grants you access to a download page that should stay up forever (I download my bundles and put them on an extra HDD for posterity...

I hadn't heard of that one before, but it sounds interesting. How is that download option handled? Any spyware client like "Steam" necessary or a straight download?

Re: Ectocomp 2011 Results

Hey, thanks to all the judges, that was unexpected – especially with such an impressive turnout as this year! Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad people liked the game. Of course, Mel's criticism is spot-on; I went for size rather than depth. That said, as Martin was so nice to send me two transcripts...

Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

Alright. That's as good a rule to select which games to play and rate as any.

Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

Plan everything on paper then write the coding in a word doc and then open the developer and paste it in. Yes, you could probably do that, but I think we would all agree that this sort of behaviour would go against the spirit of the time limitation and I hope it would be heavily penalised ;) David,...

Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

Excuse me, but are you seriously asking why such a rule, while ok for the IF Comp, would not make sense for a Speed IF competition? I'd think the difference is very obvious: In Speed IF, the whole point is to write a game in a limited amount of time. In the IF Comp, there is no such rule (and there ...

Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

Debian. I used the WebRunner for the Ectocomp games now and that seemed to work quite well, but in the IF Comp, there were so many games that I didn't feel comfortable experimenting with new interpreters.

As far as I can see, the form is this (example): <form name="aspnetForm" method="post" action="?game=http%3a%2f%2fwww.adrift.co%2ffiles%2fgames%2flobster.taf" id="aspnetForm"> What happens if you just do this: <form name="aspnetForm" method="post" action="?game=http%3a%2f%2fwww.adrift.co%2ffiles%2fg...

Re: IF Comp 2011 Results

uploading a different version of it every day until the deadline Sure, you can upload a new version every day, but without effect, because updated games were only posted once a week. So at most, you can have six different games publicized this way. someone will enter a game, then progressively upda...
