Re: How old were you?
I got my first home computer when I was 13. It was an Acorn Electron, and the first commercial text adventures I can remember playing were Stranded by Superior Software, the Scott Adams games The Count and Ghost Town , Crowther and Woods' Adventure, and Twin Kingdom Valley . I used to go around to a...

Re: Where's Campbell?
Hmm... good point. But I always feel there are improvements that can be made to every system. When I first started using Inform 7, I ran into so many error messages because of things like putting full stops or commas in the wrong place, misspelling words (I'm a fast typist but not a very accurate o...

Re: Where's Campbell?
Hi all, Did Campbell ever show up? I know he's active on Facebook, so he hasn't grown a beard and gone to live in a cave in the Scottish Highlands. David, I understand your concerns, but I don't think IF is really stagnating. You don't count choice-based IF as IF, which may account for why you feel ...

Old game not playing nicely
Hello everyone. Long time no see. I've just discovered a Radio K video review of my old game, To Hell in a Hamper , which I originally wrote in Adrift 4 and ported over to TADS 2 shortly afterwards. Towards the end Adam Cadre mentions some bugs in the Adrift version that certainly weren't there when...

Re: Games That Never Were
The largest game I ever abandoned was actually complete and playable. It was an adaptation of an old 8-bit game called 'Stranded on Iloofrax', originally by one Matthew O'Donnell. I wrote it in ADRIFT 4, re-writing the weakest parts of the original completely and adding about as much again of my own...

Re: Your unused concepts!
Lumin's idea sounds a lot like the Doctor Who episode "The Rebel Flesh" -- which doesn't mean to say it isn't a good idea for a game!

Glad you enjoyed it White Phoenix! Not sure what you mean about the billiard table - I imagined Papa Bear had had it for a while, disguised as a bed so that his wife would be none the wiser! Perhaps if you have time you could leave a rating or a review on IFDB http://ifdb.tads.org/viewgame?id=59ztsy...

Wow, somebody's playing my old game! It's been so long since I visited this forum I'd forgotten my password. Looks like Ralphmerridew has already answered your question, which is a good job as I couldn't remember myself any more. Hope you're enjoying the game.

Re: EctoComp 2012
Ectocomp was opened up to non-Adrift games last year under Duncan Bowsman's administration - it is now officially for all platforms, which is why I've been running it from http://www.intfiction.org/forum/ instead of here. Sorry for any confusion!

Ectocomp
Hi Everyone,
This is just to let you know that I won't be hosting Ectocomp this year - I have far too much else on! However if someone else wants to do the honours, I might find the time to enter!
Sorry to disappoint.
Not much activity hereabouts I see...

Vampire Bunny
Does anyone here remember a very old game, I'm pretty sure it was an Adrift game, in which you were tasked with hunting down an evil vampire bunny in a graveyard? I had it on my hard drive five or six years back but have changed computers several times since - can't find it in the archives. Cheers, ...
