Re: Pathway to Destruction

I see it was uploaded in December, is this an updated version or just a fresh download free of the rest of the comp games? The original was written in V4, I wanted to see if it could be played online so I made a basic V5 version (just a V4 game saved as V5). It was a test really. Everything seems t...

Re: It's Not Compatible

It's the forced updates that keep breaking everything that makes Win 10 suck. Microsoft screwed up when they made this one now. I have lost all faith in that company of sheer fools. Hasn't been my experience of Windows 10, I'm running on a couple of laptops which are over 10 years old. Not had any ...

I tried to play JaFT online and had no problem doing so.
I've found out what the online runner didn't like. The game was prompting for gender. Thanks.

Play Online Error

I uploaded a V5 version of my game "Pathway to Destruction". Helpfully when I try and play online it reports the following error. Anyone any idea what this means? Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent th...

Re: Count of all ADRIFT games todate

2013-2015 sure were dark times... We didn't see than many in more recent years either, although the ones that do get completed are getting more substantial and polished. e: just realized this topic was a month old, whoops. I think we have cause for some hope (a bit). The games produced recently hav...

Re: Will we rule the IFDB?

I did go through a phase of back filling the old Adrift catalogue on there once. I'm an OCD process man, so I like lists to be right. :D I'll think about starting again in the new year. Not all the old games are rubbish, some gems amongst them. That would be great, Rotter,. I don't envy you that ta...

Re: Annual IF Comp 2020

The command SHOOT was just an example where the parser can help the player as it does in Inform games. For instance, in JaFT, if you examine the clearing, some figures are mentioned. But if you e.g. type SHOOT FIGURES, you get "I don't understand what you want to do with the figures." This is very ...

Re: Count of all ADRIFT games todate

That's interesting. I always had the impression that most ADRIFT games were available on the ADRIFT site in the games section. But there are only 325 games. I now realize that a lot of the games are bundled in zip-files under "competitions". So it is great that you have made the Delron list, so we ...

Re: Count of all ADRIFT games todate

From the moment Campbell announced that he was working on a brand new version of the Developer (V.5) people pretty much stopped using V.4. Unfortunately the release of V.5 took quite a long time (understatement? ) and many (most) drifters lost patience and either lost interest in Adrift, ...

Count of all ADRIFT games todate

Just a little bit of fun. This is a count of all ADRIFT games on the Delron ADRIFT Games List. I've excluded any games which are identified as AIF.

Re: Ectocomp 2020

Meanwhile, playing a text game made with any other system: 1) "Here's the link, enjoy!" I think I'd actually cry with happiness if I could just hand someone a link to a good game and they could just play it without me needing to go though this whole exhausting process of apologies and explanations ...

Re: Annual IF Comp 2020

IMO, getting more people to use adrift is a mixture of development moving forward and those that are left, pumping out good games. Most IF I see are CYOA, mostly because you need to know programming to use Inform or Tads 3. Adrift having a renaissance would be a good thing, but that's a matter of s...
