Re: Hello Drifters

Little bit awestruck to see you all here! Hello all. Still tremendously fond of you all, and of this forum - the real world seems far less concerned about breaking mimesis!

You could allow for >yes and >no to have the same effect, but I'm sure shake head / nod head will be fairly intuitive to most players.

As I've said don't let a new release blind you. "I'm not starting my new game until v5 comes out" is like an author saying, "I'm not writing my new novel until Word 2012 is released". Although that will probably happen before ADRIFT v5 (sorry Cambell). The difference there is that copy and paste is...

That's awesome, thanks! I don't know if the people who grade me will have had much experience with IF so I'll need to playtest it to death. A few years ago I had the idea of a game consisting of several mini games and a 'hub' area, probably a library. The overall theme would be the concepts of home...

My university has recently introduced a creative writing dissertation. We're the guinea pigs for this kind of diss., so naturally I want to push the limits! I've decided to try and write an interactive piece of fiction. How linear or CYOA-ish it'll be, I'm not yet sure, and I'm a little nervous abo...

A certain degree of disillusionment is understandable, but it's for everyone to decide for themselves when to cut their losses. Evidently, you haven't done so, and that's pretty cool :)

Me? I suspect I'm going to be a ghostly presence on these boards until the day they pull the plug on it.

Sigh. As should be obvious, questioning our sanity pauses the game for a month while we all get checkups. :( Although that isn't strictly necessary under the revised rules, it's nice to see that everyone took the customary break.

Oooooohhhhhhhh goody, NOW it gets fun! A reboot double-speeds the Victoria line, so I can shoot to Euston... I know the box I'm making is a little obvious, but I've got more tricks up my sleeve yet ;)

Hunh. Wait, doesn't that put us in a strait-shift lockdown? Unless I slide to goodge street, I suppose. Goodge street then. BUT I'm playing a Phoenix Card, and unlocking the Jubilee. Ought to give us a bit of breathing room.

Ok! The question is, which genre is most in need of parody? I won't limit it to the IF world; if you're sick of a certain kind of film, feel free to puncture its smug superiority with a well-placed click! If you've got something in particular in mind - perhaps a crime-fighting dentist whose love fo...
