Re: Do you play games online
Campbell, a while ago I sent through a sample TAF and script file of differences between V4 and V5? Did you receive that?

Re: Slow game?
For comparison, the ALR in "Cursed" has 9861 lines, and is about 1mb in size. There are 156 events. The game itself is fine during play, although it takes a while to index the ALR at the start of play. When I hit slowdown issues I found the issues were more about the following: - wildcard commands (...

Re: Cursed V2.0
To DCBSupafly: Yes, the choice of animal will impact how the game will play, and the things you can/can't do. To Peter: Yes, I delayed putting the announcement up because I wanted the IFArchive link to be functional - I know I could have used the link to the ADRIFT site, but I thought the IFArchive ...

Cursed V2.0
For those who are interested, I have release a post-comp version of my game "Cursed". It includes a brand new prologue (attempting to remove a lot of the criticism the original version received relating to the long, non-interactive intro, while at the same time reducing the amount of "telling" that ...

New version of game to upload
I want to update "Cursed" on the downloads page, and put a new file (ZIP) in there to replace the previous file. But when I edit the game page I don't have an option to load a new file. Is that by design? Do I need to create a new game page?

v4 complex command compatibility
There appears to be a problem with the way v5 handles complex commands from v4. The following samples illustrate this: v5: {go/climb/jump/get} [down/d] {off/from} {the} {curtain/curtains} --> fails for "d" or "down" v5: {go/climb/jump/get} [down/d] {the} {curtain/curtains} --> fails for "d" or "down...

v4 compatibility
Campbell, I just wanted to ask how committed you are to getting v5 fully backward compatible with v4? I ask this, because I've been doing some testing and I've already found a number of differences in default text responses. I can start logging all the differences I find, but you're probably in a be...

Multiple commands on a single line
In v5 runner, you can't seem to enter multiple commands on a single line:

Not sure if this has been raised as an issue yet, because there doesn't appear to be a "search" function on the bugs and enhancements list.open note, read it
open note and read it

Re: v4 compatibility - Disambiguation messages
For v4 compatibility, the v5 runner has to just "know" what the right settings are, because v4 games can't set any v5 preferences.Better still allow full customisation of these type of messages to allow the user to use their own preferences.

Re: v4 compatibility - Disambiguation messages
I think, if you want to be serious about backwards compatibility, you definitely need to have a "v4 compatibility" option.

v4 compatibility - "X ME"
In v5, when you enter "X ME", all held items will be displayed as well as worn items. In v4, when you enter "X ME", only worn items will be displayed. eg: V5: > X ME Your name is John. You are ten years old, almost eleven. You are wearing a tracksuit, and are carrying a stopwatch. V4: > X ME Your na...

v4 compatibility - Disambiguation messages
In v5, when a disambiguation message is displayed it is shown like this:
In v4, the message is displayed like this:Which box? The red box or the blue box.
Note the different locations of "?" and "." characters.Which box. The red box or the blue box?
