object keys must start with an english letter

Just noticed this problem as I am writing a Danish game, but I think the same problem can occur with other non-english letters like ü, ö etc. (and perhaps also symbols?). However, I only tested it with the three Danish letters: æ, ø and å. Normally, if you create an object, the key of the object is ...

Re: Combined Library Release 2.1 Out

I wasn't inferring that double spacing between lines was currently used unless the author had a reason to do so. I was referring to my school days, some 50 - 60 years ago, before computers, etc. We never used it for writing essays (compositions as they were called then). The only ones who had to we...

Re: Translating Adrift into Danish

Due to a serious bug in release 3 of the Danish Standard Library, I have uploaded a bugfixed version 4:

Re: Combined Library Release 2.1 Out

I haven't heard about double spacing between lines. However, in IF a blank line between paragraphs seems to be the norm, whereas in books there is normally no blank line between paragraphs. Instead, every paragraph starts with a small indent in books. Example of book-standard: The budget of the seri...

Re: Combined Library Release 2.1 Out

I managed to find a thread which mentions this: http://forum.adrift.co/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1714&p=35371&hilit=extra+space#p35371 It sounds like Campbell thinks there should be two spaces and one guy has a theory that it may come from the time of typewriters where two spaces apparently was the norm. ...

Re: Combined Library Release 2.1 Out

Thanks for clarifying that - I must have misunderstood something in an old post I cannot find.

Re: Combined Library Release 2.1 Out

Is it possible to add to this library a correction to when you examine an object which if it has the ability to open and close etc, Adrift will automatically tell the player if the object is open or closed, but it usually outputs this line with an indention of 1 character which looks messy. I can't...

Re: Storing a text variable in Runner question...

I am not sure if this fulfils your requirements, but I made a small demo with two methods: One method is to tell the player to type "/" everytime they want a line break, e.g: I wake up/I go to work//several hours later:/I'm home again The game then answers: I wake up I go to work several hours later...

Re: ADRIFT 5 newcomer advice

I made a search to find post regarding changing the default name of the player and found this: http://forum.adrift.co/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11510&p=101974&hilit=insert+player+name#p101974 Is this solution still valid considering the updates that has been made in the meantime? I read through it and I...

Asking the player a question (e.g. What is your name?)

If you within a game want to ask the player a question, you want the answer to be stored in a variable. This can be done with a general task having the command %text%. If you give this task a high priority, it will run instead of any other task. This is preferred when the player is supposed to answe...

Re: Making genereal task: Put object under object

This can be done in various ways. I assume that there are only a few objects that this can be done to, e.g. you don't want to be able to put a pen under a soccer ball etc. This is handled with restrictions. To get rid of the message you mention, I recommend that you just override the Examine Object ...

Re: Player naming characters?

Yes, it is quite similar to renaming the player. I attach a demo showing how to do it. Just ask if something is not clear.

Re: Eamon Revived

I stumbled across that Eamon site early this year, it was kind of amazing this huge thing with the size of the community it once had had managed to stay completely off my radar for so long. Can't imagine the work that would go into putting it fully or even partially on Adrift, but good luck, howeve...

Re: Combined Library Release 2.1 Out

P/O Prune proposed to add tasks for "Throw object at character" and "throw object at object". These are good ideas, which I hope to include in the next release. While looking into this, I realize that the standard library doesn't even have a "throw object" task at the moment! I am not exactly sure w...
