Question on Graphics Display

Postby reelyor » Sat Dec 31, 2016 2:42 am

I apologize if this has been addressed previously. I've been away quite awhile.

Is there a way, when displaying graphics in the game proper, to have the picture displayed in the center of the screen rather than on the left? I have monitor displaying 1920 x 1080, but only have a graphic that is 800 x 800.
Using the latest version of ADRIFT

TIA

Hi Roy,

In the games where I have graphics I put the link for the image within the location or message text and it can be simply centred on screen with the HTML tags <center> and </center>, i.e:

<center><img src="C:\DFF Images\ChiRho-All3.jpg"></center>

I hope that helps?

Happy New Year!

Larry.

Thanks, Larry. I will try that. It worked for me before, but I must be doing something wrong.
Happy New Year back at you!!

Hi Lazzah,
Thanks for the update on how to add graphic within the location description. I had completely forgotten how it was done.

Haven't tried this yes, but I'm wondering how things will work out.
When developing a game I usually keep my files separated in folders. Game, Sound and pictures.
So this means that if I want the picture to show up in the location description I'll have to point towards the location of the picture ie: "C:\DFF Images\ChiRho-All3.jpg" right?
What happens when I the release my game? the path containing the picture will no longer be valid? How does this work?

Don't ask me how it works, but it does. When you bundle your game as a blorb or an executable, the graphics and audio files are saved with the game and will be displayed/played when you set them to.

Ok, I'm lost...
I have inserted the tags below into the location description window, expecting it to show up when I start the game. Instead it shows up in a separate graphics window and nothing I do will make it show up where I want it to.
Any ideas?

Go into runner, and make sure the checkoff for graphics window is not checked.

Thanks Reelyor, that worked...
The picture is enormous though. Anyway I can make it smaller other than resizing it in an editor?

P.s.
Did you get my email?

Yes I got the email thanks, and sent you one back from my present address.
Off hand, I don't know how to resize inside ADRIFT.
I usually make my pictures to the size that I want - I find a vertical res. of 800 to be best. It leaves enough at the bottom for a few lines of ADRIFT code.

Back again.
Just for comparisons, I entered my game into an OLDER version of ADRIFT (5.28) that I had, with the graphics selected via the side tab entry, and it centered correctly. Yet, it doesn't do so in version 5.35. When did it change?

5.31 centers correctly also.
