Problems with the Messenger

No, this isn't an attempt to restart the Smacking Thread (maybe it rest in - smack! - pieces), but a genuine query about problems I'm having with the Messenger. I got a PM off Lumin, tried to reply to it, and the top two-thirds of the screen messed up. I was told my message had gone, but the forum is apparently telling porkies as the message is still in my Outbox. Did you get the message, Lumin?

Actually the PM system seems to be working as Lumin just replied, but I'm still getting the weird acid-trip look on the forum whenever I try to send to reply to a message.

Ok, I got that too…
It looks weird but it doesn't seem to mess up the messages.

When Campbell (some sunny day in a distant future) decides to honour us with his presence, I'll bring it to his attention.
(Just for your info: Campbell hasn't logged in here since March 1st, and he hasn't been on Fb for the better part of 3 weeks (if not longer) and last but not least, he hasn't answered my e-mails.)
I may be obnoxious, but this is going a little too far :( )

Well, it's working anyway. That's the main thing. Just as well really as if we have to wait for Campbell to show up to fix things, we're well and truly screwed.

Where is he these days anyway? I know he's not much involved in ADRIFT any longer and it's unlikely there's ever going to be a new major release or anything but a few occasional bug fixes, but he's keeping this forum going so clearly he still has some interest in ADRIFT. I don't know why he can't just let everyone know where he stands. Has he given up on ADRIFT? Is he planning to work on it again some day? The silence is the most annoying thing really, although I accept that even if he does return he's not likely to do much with v4.

Like I wrote in my post, David. He hasn't even been on Facebook for at least 3 - 4 weeks.
Maybe I shouldn't have, but I took the liberty of contacting his father and ask for information (Explaining who I was and why I was concerned) but I haven't hear anything.

If you click on Members in the top right and then select one of the letters

"Find a member • All  A  B  C  D  E  F  G  H  I  J  K  L  M  N  O  P  Q  R  S  T  U  V  W  X  Y  Z  #"

Without ordering the members it errors with the following -

"Multiple Choices
 
The document name you requested (/memberlist.php&first_char=b) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested.
 
Available documents:
 
•/memberlist.php (common basename)
•/memberlist.php~ (common basename)
 
Please consider informing the owner of the referring page about the broken link."
Currently working on "The Blank Wall" in ADRIFT 5 and "Again and Again" in Inform 7.

The weird errors are because I was forced to update the version of PHP the forum is running on, to a version that the forum doesn't support. I installed a mod on the forum to get it to still run, but it seems the mod isn't perfect. At some point I'll have to have a look at doing a proper upgrade on the forum, but I'm not sure how feasible it will be because I don't think the new version is fully backwards compatible, and we have a lot of mods on this one. So for now, I think we just need to live with the occasional error message.

Just as long as you don't go down the route of Int.Fiction or Quest and downgrade to a forum which looks like it launched in the 60's. I can put up with weird error messages every now and then but not a forum as bad as they've now got.
