Anyone seen the new zombie flick? I saw it today and thought it was pretty dully and uninspiring. Romero seems to have lost it big time.

I guess no one else has seen this film then. Probably just as well. It was awful.

I'm not much of a zombie-film person - although I did like '28 Days Later'. And 'Shaun of the Dead' was kinda funny :D

I hated Shaun Of The Dead. Seriously. I even walked out of the cinema halfway through because it was so bad, and it's pretty rare that I do that sort of thing.

IMHO it's been a long time since anyone's made a decent zombie movie. Or decent horror movies in general, actually. Last one I remember really getting into was The Ring, and and before that it was The Others. Seems like it's all about CGI now instead of intelligent plots and suspense. (Of course I don't know if zombie movies really fall into the same category, they can be both campy and gory and still get away with it... )

I actually thought the remake of Dawn Of The Dead was pretty decent. Probably not quite on par with the original but certainly one of the few remakes that was actually worth doing.

Land Of The Dead, though, was just dull through and through. There was a reasonably interesting sub-plot about zombies starting to think for themselves and evolve from more than mindless shambling corpses, but that seemed to be lost in the mix.

I saw The Ring at one in the morning some time last year. Great film, although generally I'm not into horror. I was at a friend's house at the time, and his idiot of a step father rang the house phone in the room we were in at the time. Withheld his number too. Not that we fell for it for more than about two seconds of course.

Oh man, I'll second that one.

I'll also hereby put in my request for a Tripods movie series.
