Have any of you, apart from Denk and myself (the two Danes  ) considered participating in the IF Comp this year?
It could be fun if there were some Adrift games in there.

I have a game well under way, but have been having trouble finding any time to work on it lately so I don't know if I will be able to get it finished in time.

I'll be submitting a spy/mystery game: Six Silver Bullets

I'm working furiously to have it done in time. It's not QUITE as ambitious as Tingalan, but it's quite large and has tons of replay value (I hope!)

Just a reminder: 10 days to register for IFcomp.

And if you need a beta-tester, let me know.

Also, I learned last year that uploading an ADRIFT game as an exe-file is not a good idea. I thought more people would play if I supplied an exe-file but they didn't. Instead much antivirus-software claims the file is infected. So I recommend to upload a blorb- or taf-file.

Deadline for submitting your game is September 28. :nerves:

How about uploading the .exe file in a zipfile?

Actually I did that (the zip-file contained both blorb and exe-file), but still, people complained about the exe-file triggering virus-scanners. Furthermore, in a video-review the reviewer couldn't download my game. I suspect that her browser or virus-scanner was "protecting" her pc from the exe-file. As the other ADRIFT game was only uploaded as a blorb, but received just as many votes (representing the number of players, but they give different scores), I conclude that there was only a negative effect of providing the game as an exe-file.

Will the players need to have ADRIFT installed on their computer or is there other software which will run blorbs?

I tried to google it, and it looks as if there's a software that will run blorb.
My american tester of Anno 1700 is an Inform guy and he didn't mention anything about having problems running the game.

To my knowledge, the only alternative to the official ADRIFT 5 runner is currently Fabularium for Android. It still has a few bugs in it, but I think they will soon be fixed. Other programs produce blorb-files, e.g. Inform, though they are usually called zblorb or gblorb, but blorb is also allowed. Such blorb-files can be played by e.g. Gargoyle, but Gargoyle cannot play blorb-files generated by ADRIFT. Gargoyle does play ADRIFT 4 games though.

Has Fabularium been updated to support v5? It didn't when I last checked it out and only ran v4 games.

Yes, Fabularium now supports V5 including blorbs with music and graphics.

This all seems so ridiculously convoluted for 2018, it makes me sad.
