AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
If you cannot get enough of jams/competitions, enter AdventureJam 2020!
Make an adventure game (IF or graphical) in 14 days: http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2020
NB: Constructing the game itself is not allowed until the beginning of the jam date. However, you are allowed to assemble your team (if you choose to have one), write your story/dialogue, and map out your game right now.
Last year there were 55 games of which there were six IF-games and where three of the games were made with ADRIFT. Even though the competition is dominated by graphical point-and-click adventures, the untraditional IF-game "Night of the Crescent Moon" became #11.
After the jam is ended on the 5th of May, the authors vote for each other's games (you cannot vote for yourself). The voting period continues for one month. DazaKiwi and I were participating last year. It was great fun and there were some truly excellent games, some of them even with voice-acting, which I would have paid to play, though they were not so long.

Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
I'd like to look at the existing IF games on the Gamejolt site, but how do I narrow down the search? There doesn't seem to be an int-fic tag.
Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
EDIT: I realized I didn't exactly answer your question. I have tried to go to the front page of game jolt: http://www.gamejolt.com/
and type text adventure in the search field. It gave me some hits.
But if you like to see those who have been entered in previous years AdventureJam, you can just change the year of the address to get an older AdventureJam, e.g. : http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2019/games

The adventure Jam does include Text Adventures, im a member of their discord channel and they even have a Text Adventure text channel.
Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
As AdventureJam2020 ends in less than 24 hours, I have submitted my game Museum Heist. Tomorrow the Voting period begins, which takes a month. Only Authors with games in AdventureJam2020 can vote.
In order to make my game playable online, I have also uploaded it to the ADRIFT Site:
http://www.adrift.co/game/1549
There hasn't been time for testers besides myself, but should any of you feel like playing and/or testing it, I would be glad for feedback and/or transcripts. I am allowed to bugfix my game during the voting period.
Thanks

Haha - Honestly, it didn't strike me that I gave him the same first name as you before you wrote this post.P/o Prune wrote:And the name of the gentleman thief is?![]()

I named him after my favourite character Gentleman Finn in an old comedy program. However, the character in my game is very different from the character in that program. Except for the "small" fact that he is an art thief, he is, of course, a good guy

Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
I just got mine in with hours to spare. I originally started this as an idea and turned it into a game in the last few days.
http://www.adrift.co/game/1560 *Updated link v13
On a scouting mission in a far flung solar system, your ship malfunctioned at the worse time and eventually crashed into an alien ocean.
Your crashed ship now lies on the bottom of an alien ocean. It needs repairs, and scans have shown a certain raw materials can be used to create the needed materials needed to do the repairs in order to fly again. Time is running out..
This has been tested by myself, but of course some bugs might be present. I can deal with those later, as it does not count as working on the game post deadline.

Great! I also see a Twine game and a couple of other games tagged as text adventures.DazaKiwi wrote:I just got mine in with hours to spare. I originally started this as an idea and turned it into a game in the last few days.

Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
Have updated my game Alien Diver to v8, fixed a couple of game breaking bugs.
Added a custom window for Stats as the Status bar might not display them all on your screen. Fixed some minor bugs.

Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
Have updated Alien Diver to version 12, this version is the most stable build, all the bugs should be dealt with now. I sunk a lot of time into bug fixing and also sorted the lag issue when moving about the map that was in previous version. Have tweaked some commands and help info, there is now a Status Window for all stats.
Think of this game as a board game more than a narrative interactive fiction game, although there is some areas to explore, which i will expand upon in future.

Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
This sounds really cool, I'll check it out this weekend.
Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
I have updated my game again to run properly if playing the browser version, custom windows are not supported in the browser unfortunately. So now by default the Status Window is turned off. If playing this in Runner you can turn it back on with the command TURN ON WINDOW. The new link is above v13.
Re: AdventureJam 2020, April 21st-May 5th
The results are up: http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2020/games
For some reason, Daza and I did not do as well as last year, where we placed in the best half of the games. Still, I enjoyed participating.
The best placing IF-game came in at 13th place and is called "Are you there?". I enjoyed it quite a lot.
