Is there a list of eligible games somewhere so I can see if it is worthwhile creating an account so I can vote?

Thanks Denk.
I don't recognise anything that I have played recently. Maybe I've been too busy playing games from the past comps, etc to notice when they were made/appeared.
I tried to pull up a list on IFDB and I'm sure it didn't have half as many. I'll try adding some extra filters to reduce it to only include those platforms that I play. Then I'll compare them with what's on the list.
I know that there were a few I started but never finished due to genres that I don't enjoy or there was at least one with so much swearing that it detracted from the story. (I won't name them - just to say my choices are quite narrow.

Good luck with yours.

I missed round 1 but just got my votes in for round 2.

Can't wait to see if AI Dungeon wins anything, that'll be the clearest indicator I've ever had that these awards are a farce that can be safely ignored forever.

....oh yeah and obviously an ADRIFT game getting nominated for Best Game is kind of of a big deal.

I am glad you voted. I mean, if we don't vote, we cannot really complain ;)

I agree that sometimes a bad game is nominated, which could indicate some sort of mechanism (perhaps unintentional) which favours some games, is sometimes present. For instance, American Angst from 2017 was nominated in 3 categories, though most people didn't seem to like it. However, it did not win in any category, so I think those are usually sorted out in round 2.

Of course, the IF community consists of several sub-communities who have different views, so we cannot expect to agree on everything.

Well in AI Dungeon's case it's just flat out not IF, it"s just a bot that chews up other people's writing and spits it out in semi coherent pieces. It can be a neat toy if you pay the dev for something his bot is doing with uncredited work from actual authors, but it doesn't deserve an award or any recognition in a major IF event. That's insulting to all authors who created their own game this year.

As for Skybreak, this is literally what we've always wanted, so I'm not going to have much sympathy if one of those 'boohoo the mainstream community hates ADRIFT' threads ever pop up again if there's anyone here who doesn't bother to vote.
