just played through mine and there is WAY too much GTV at the very end. None of it is needed to finish the game however, but if you want to have more fun (some fun? slightly less than a crappy time?) you can see the task names of things you do in the developer. I thought I'd covered everything someone might type, but even I was having trouble...I guess that's why I was trying to use wild cards before, but that didn't work for me either.
Just played the House, now Death Shack!

Don't worry too much about it Mike. There's a lot of forgiveness for time limited games.
I'll be looking forward to play some of the games later tonight...

P.s.
As for your cold? A nice hot cup of tea, old chap, will do the trick... Just don't forget to add the rum :yeah:

They'll need to be uploaded individually, then they can be assigned to the competition page.

I wrote Death Shack and I'll admit that because I spent all of my three hours focusing on the writing, I had no time to work in any decent puzzles or fine tune it.

Here's a walkthrough if you do get stuck:

[Reveal] Spoiler:
climb tree
get object
down
unlock door
open door
in
sit couch

ohhhhh... duh. I kept typing:

[Reveal] Spoiler:
CLIMB OAK why the hell didn't I try "tree"? I have no clue. Thanks!

I am enjoying the writing! The intro reminded me of something Harry Stephen Keeler would write.

one more game to go!

so, on these 3 hour games how much do you take into account bugs and gtv issues when voting? is the highest rating the highest rating for an if game or jst the highest rating for a 3 hour ectocomp game?

Ectocomp update! Apologies this is tardy, but we got 1 more game during the extension period. I have also added in the walkthrough for "Bloodless on the Orient Express," which was previously missing, and the all-important scoring sheet.

Find it here!

I haven't got a clue, Mike.
I find it very difficult to judge games written within a time limit. How forgiving should you be? It goes without saying that when someone is working within a limited time something has to give.

That's the beauty of closed competitions: Mathematically, it does not matter for the final results how you rate the games in absolute terms as long as the relative ratings are sound.

Did we ever decide on a deadline for voting?

Right. The question you should be asking is not 'how does this game hold up against all the other games I've played' but 'how does this game hold up against the other games made for the same comp with the same restriction?'

Deadline for voting will be Nov 30, since IFComp is running until the 15th.

Hello all,

Just to be sure that it isn't overlooked, I have an entry for EctoComp 2011, but it's not an actual file to be run in Inform 7 or Adrift. It's actually just a url to a web-based CYOA style game.
The url is https://sites.google.com/site/justahackwriter/

There might have been some confusion as the only manner it exists in the zipped archive Duncan set up is just as a text file with a url. Hope everyone at least takes a look at it. :D
