This year's Ectocomp games are all up on IFDB. I have given them the description "Written for Ectocomp 2011" and the genre "Seasonal." If you'd like to change it, feel free.

Just a small note, the following authors don't have profiles on IFDB I could link their games to: Andrew Schultz, Mel S, and Justahack. You might want to consider making a profile and linking your games to it.

I played Attack of Doc Lobster's Mutant Menagerie of Horror in the online interpreter today. After creating a monster and unleashing it, the game says "(press enter to continue)". Pressing enter does nothing. I can only restart from scratch. Campbell, maybe a bug in the backend?

I think that's because a "*" task has been used to trap keyboard input. Pressing <enter> doesn't give any input, so the game doesn't continue.

If you type something on the command line and press enter it should resume.

A <waitkey> may be a better method to use here rather than the "*" task.

Yes, entering a random character and submitting with enter works. Thanks!

The online interpreter seems to have trouble executing the >GIVE commands I put into Doc Lobster. I would recommend using the ADRIFT 4 Runner, Gargoyle, or Spatterlight to play through it.

Regarding the input prompt there, "%text%" was used to trap input. The "*" was only used to catch instances when the player presses enter without typing anything in. Using a <waitkey> tag there would not have made sense.

The reason for this is because ADRIFT 5 is stricter with the parsing than v4. So
adrift Code: Select all
* give * %object% * doc
means that it expects a word between give and %object%. Or to be more precise, it is looking for two spaces with an optional word between.

So "give the chicken to doc" works, whereas "give chicken to doc" does not.

I have added to the bug tracker.

Just a heads up, there's about a week left to send in your votes for this year's Ectocomp. I haven't received any as of yet. If you've sent in votes and I haven't received them, please let me know.

My form will definitely be coming in, just have a couple of more games to play and review before I send it in.
