V.5 Intro Comp
Re: V.5 Intro Comp
Congrats on the new house, Po. Prune =]
On the subject of the competition, I'm almost finished with my entry. Anybody fancy beta-testing this thing before I officially submit it?

Re: V.5 Intro Comp
I'll give this a go too.
Another spin on competition like this could be...the winner doesn't finish the story but the community does..but not as a full game. More like a short intro and the community then picks the winning entry and everyone can then
submit their short ending to it. Using the same rooms and characters already established and maybe add a couple more characters if your ending needs it. This could be in a short story format.
So there could be multiple endings created (but as separate games of course, yet all with the winning intro as the start) the best ending could be voted for as well. Well just an idea.

That sounds like quite an interesting idea, Daza.
On a sidenote: I was thinking the other day about the possibility of a shared universe where different DRIFTers can add to the story and such with their own adventures.

Re: V.5 Intro Comp
I see that there are some Drifter's ready to submit their games...
Just a piece of advise. Like David says; Leave the game for a few days (you've got plenty of time before the 15th) then go back and give it a play through. You'd be surprised

Re: V.5 Intro Comp
I keep sitting down at the PC with the intention of finishing up my intro entry, only to come up with a bunch of new ideas to put in it. This thing is gonna' be immense... if I ever finish it....

Re: V.5 Intro Comp
OK, for the first time ever I am entering an IF competition! (Fanfare of Trumpets - Roll of Kettle Drums!!!) I have decided to enter an adapted version of my w.i.p game "The Axe of Kolt" into the comp.

Edit: I just had a thought: By "4 rooms" does this means locations where gameplay takes place and does not include rooms which are used for things like the game prologue and playing instructions, etc?

You can use as many screens (Rooms) for your prolouge and game instructions. The 4 room rule is for the game itself.Lazzah wrote:I just had a thought: By "4 rooms" does this means locations where gameplay takes place and does not include rooms which are used for things like the game prologue and playing instructions, etc?

Re: V.5 Intro Comp
Well, my game "The Axe of Kolt" is already a W.I.P. and once "Fortress of Fear" is released (hopefully in the not-too-distant future) I can concentrate on that game. You never know, it might be ready for release within a year (...or two!)David Whyld wrote:I'm interested in an End of Year comp but less so in an Intro Comp. Why? Because we all know the chances of games entered in an Intro Comp being finished are slightly less than zilch. At least with the End of Year Comp, you get to play finished games (at least, I hope they're finished...)
