Thanks for the fix Campbell!

I noticed when i updated the files (this time i included the Library folder) which i didn't when i updated from .35 and noticed it asks if i want to update the current Adrift game to new items in the library (or worded to that effect) is there any changes to the library itself? or perhaps that was the case in the initial update you did before the fix?

Minor update to 5.0.36.4, which contains a bugfix for deleting conversation trees. I've also updated the Installer.

Campbell, I did a clean install (uninstalled all ADRIFT versions first).

It seems as if there were no libraries released with v5.0.36.4. so the list of libraries is completely empty.

At least the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\ADRIFT" is empty except for two dll-files - not sure if they were from an earlier installation.

I can of course point at some older versions of the libraries I stored in some folders, but I guess new 'drifters should have the libraries installed together with ADRIFT?

Hi Denk,

When I installed v.5.0.36.4 it created a different folder - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Campbell Wild". If you look in there you will find all the usual files plus all the libraries.

HTH

Thanks Lazzah, that helped :)

Still, I think the 3 libraries should be automatically added to the list of libraries in the Developer, and the Standard Library should be pre-loaded, which was the case in v5.0.35.

Yes, you're right - I missed a Registry update in the setup to set the library locations. I'll also change it so it's back in Program Files (x86)\ADRIFT. By default it sets the publisher, then the product name.

I think you are out of practice with these updates and need to do them more often.
Thanks again for a great program.

Re: 5.0.36 Mono version

Postby Denk » Tue Sep 15, 2020 12:50 am

Campbell, on intfiction.org people have been asking if the Mono-version for Mac is working. No one (Linux and Mac) were able to get it to work during IFComp 2019.

Not to waste their time, has the new Mono-version (Sep 9, 2020) been tested on any system?
I will let them know your answer. Thanks.
EDIT: Since they are mainly interested in playing the games, it is sufficient if they can get the Runner up and working. If you have any advice, it would be good to know.
NEW EDIT:
(reply on intfiction.org indicates a missing file)
I just spent some time updating my Mono installation and installing the new ADRIFT runner (with the Sept. 9 release date) under Linux, and the package itself seems to be broken. Trying to run /usr/local/bin/adrift crashes, complaining that it can’t find /usr/local/lib/adrift5/MonoRunner.exe. This file is listed in the package contents in the README file, but doesn’t seem to be included in the archive itself.

I haven't tested the Mono release in quite some time. But the executable is definitely in the archive. Perhaps it's being quarantined by a virus checker as soon as the archive is extracted?

I tried to "unzip"(.tar.gz) the mono-distribution adrift-5.0.36.tar.gz on my Windows PC to see the contents of the file.

According to the readme, the following 5 files should be included:
/usr/local/bin/adrift
/usr/local/lib/adrift5/README
/usr/local/lib/adrift5/StandardLibrary.amf
/usr/local/lib/adrift5/MonoRunner.exe
/usr/local/lib/adrift5/LYDIAN.TTF

All except the exe-file were included. Note that I have recently switched to BitDefender because it always let me know if something is quarantined and I can always look in the quarantine folder and release any quarantined files. So I am sure that my antivirus-software is not the reason.

However, my "unzipper" for .tar.gz files is 7-Zip. When I unpack it, it yields an error:
"Cannot open the file as a [gzip]-archive"
"The file is opened as a [tar]-archive"

Not sure if that is important. Could you un-".tar.gz" the file to double check that the exe-file is included?
