InsideADRIFT Game of the Year Competion 2004

This is a competition for any game made using the Adrift Interactive Fiction Creation System that was released during the calendar year 2004 (or has not been previously released).

The entries must be sent to competition@kfadrift.org.uk, arriving no later than 15:00hrs GMT on Sunday 19 December 2004. I will then try and get everything together for judging to commence that evening. There will be two weeks to judge the entries, with marks to reach me by 15:00hrs GMT on Sunday 2 January 2005.

The rules
Basically I will try to keep the rules as simple as possible.

1. The game must be written using Adrift and have been released during 2004 OR not have previously been released.

2. The game can be any size, but if it is larger than 300Kb it must be hosted elsewhere (I will probably be OK with it depending how many entries there are.)

3. Games released before 2004 with minor changes cannot be entered, although completely rewritten and expanded games may be entered.

4. No more than two entries from one author.

5. A walkthrough must be included with all entries, one can be generated using the Adventure > Start Transcript menu option. Transcripts will not be distributed with the games, but may be requested directly from the organiser or game author. OR an in game system must be included that will enable players to complete the game.

6. There should be no material that breaches someone elses copyright.

7. Contributors may also be judges, but must not judge their own entries. Betatesters can still judge any entries.

8. The organiser has the final say in all matters relating to the eligiblity of games and interpretation of the rules.

For guidance, not rules:

9. Passworded games are allowed, but not favoured as they discourage the exchange of techniques.

10. As the games have previously been released discussion is not banned.

11. There is no set time limit on gameplay, although you shouldn't spend too long on any one game.

12. Bribery is discouraged.

Prizes

Current prize list
In the event of there being five or fewer entries the prize list is as follows:

1. Forty US Dollars
2. Twenty US Dollars

If there are more than six or more entries then the prize list will be:

1. Fifty US Dollars
2. Thirty US Dollars
3. Fifteen US Dollars

All prizes are available either via my PayPal account or as Amazon vouchers (although I will attempt to fit in with any other payment method asked for)

I've just e-mailed in my entries (and then realised a fraction of a second later that e-mailing them in was probably a bit pointless as they're both on the main Adrift page anyway :( ). But at least they're in.

So, one more entry, then if I enter my game which already finished behind Mystery and davidw, they should split with me the extra prize money for 1st and 2nd, as well as the 3rd place money, which weirdly, is just about the registration fee for Adrift. :)
