Member Rules

In addition to the Terms of Service you agreed to when registering, the following rules apply to all members and users of all forums contained here. If you do not agree to/with the following guidelines, then you do not have permission to post new topics or reply to topics in any of the available forums. This is necessary to maintain a friendly and positive environment for all members and staff.

The ADRIFT Forum is a public Bulletin Board, and displays messages in real time as soon as they are posted. Because of this, the responsibility of each post lies with the person posting. The ADRIFT Forum strives to be family friendly, for users of all ages. Please keep this in mind when posting. Given the nature of interactive fiction, some mature subjects may arise. Please use discretion when posting and remember this is an all ages forum.

Freedom of speech is encouraged, although any public slating or otherwise demeaning statements or personal attacks on other Forum members or staff is strictly not tolerated.

You will not use this Forum to post or link to any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually orientated, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violate any law in any format. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by yourself or the ADRIFT Forum.

You agree to not post private messages sent by any staff member or fellow forum user in any forums or sub-forums provided by ADRIFT. If you are being harassed by another member of this board, please forward the original message in it’s entirety to the staff of the ADRIFT forum so it can be investigated immediately.

You agree to use a single identity while using the ADRIFT forums, unless a technical problem occurs. Multiple usernames for a single person makes it very difficult to maintain an accurate member count, and can be misleading to both staff and existing members. Please respect this and use only one account per person.

Staff members will enforce these rules, including, but not limited to the editing of posts, deleting of threads, and through the use of warnings as well as banning. Editing of posts- In cases where a member of staff decides a post breaks the rules they may ask the poster to edit out the offending part. In many cases the staff member may decide that the post should be immediately edited or deleted as they believe it should not be available on the forum. In most cases the poster will have the reasons explained to them via the forum warning system and, where the offence is classed as serious, their warning level raised. As circumstances can vary there can be no guarantee of an explanation given every time, but there normally will be one

Any personal issues (fighting, name calling, bashing etc.) with staff members or other forum members will strictly not be tolerated in a public venue. Anyone starting a thread to pick a fight, or otherwise harass or question the motives of staff or other members in a public venue may be immediately banned. That ban may be permanent, and is at the discretion of the staff. Anyone adding to such offences will also receive a warning or may also be banned. If you have problems with the actions or decisions of a moderator or other forum member, be respectful of other board members and handle it privately.

Our goal here at the ADRIFT forum is to provide a family friendly, enjoyable place for everyone. Please do your part in making that happen. Rules maybe updated, modified, or changed without notice. It is your responsibility to keep current with them.

Rules updated 29 Jan 2005

The original rule:

"Staff members will enforce these rules, including, but not limited to the editing of posts, deleting of threads, and through the use of warnings as well as banning. A staff member is not required to ask permission or notify you in any way if a post is going to be edited or deleted. When a warning is given, an explanation will be given for the warning and your warning level may be increased."

has been updated to read

"Staff members will enforce these rules, including, but not limited to the editing of posts, deleting of threads, and through the use of warnings as well as banning. Editing of posts- In cases where a member of staff decides a post breaks the rules they may ask the poster to edit out the offending part.
