Star Ratings

Postby Campbell » Sun Jul 03, 2011 4:28 pm

You may notice that some users now have star ratings against their identity. This is linked to an update I am making to the ADRIFT website which completely integrates the forum with the main website. The rating displayed is the average rating of all reviews of all full adventures submitted by that user.

This gives a 'reputation' to each profile, and allows new users to know if they are getting advice from a reputable author or not.

Impressive idea. Hope it doesn't get spammed or anything like that.

Personally not too keen, just because some people may be vindictive and vote down those who they don't like. Not such a problem with heavy traffic site, but I can see how it could be abused.

Well, I think that's always a possibility anyway. One of the main reasons for doing this is to try to encourage more people to vote, review, and just play games in general.

I've put in controls to stop people voting for their own games, and also to restrict to a single vote per game, so spamming - although possible - should be reasonably difficult to do.
