5.0.26 out now!

ADRIFT 5 release 26 is now available for download. There are two Windows downloads available. If you have not tried v5 yet, the easiest way is to download the full setup from http://www.adrift.co/files/ADRIFT5Setup.zip. If you already have a working version, you can download the files only version from http://www.adrift.co/files/ADRIFT5.zip and overwrite your existing files. (I'll try to get an auto-update working soon!) There is also a Linux version available from http://www.adrift.co/files/adrift-5.0.26.tar.gz. Please note that the Setup download from download.com may take a few days to update with the latest version, so you may want to use the mirror link.

The main highlights in this release are Object Oriented function enhancements, Expression Restrictions, Hiding map rooms, Timed Events and Trizbort map imports.

Why is it suddenly insisting that "the" is an incorrect article?
I usually use "the" for unique objects and "a" for common objects.
Calling an object "a head of John Smith" sounds like he had two heads.

The "Add new property" button has gone missing from the property page of Locations.

Hmm. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I think I might just remove it.

I am having problems also with the Inventory command. At the start of my adventure "The Axe of Kolt" when you type in "i" you get the expected response, i.e. "You are wearing some clothes, and are carrying nothing.". However, after playing through the game with a macro and acquiring a few items - including a pouch with some coins in it - when I type "i" I get error messages followed by my inventory, like this:

*** Bad Argument to &perc;ListObjectsOnAndIn[]&perc; - Object Key "Player.WornAndHeld" not found***

*** Bad Function - Nothing output***

*** Bad Argument to &perc;ListObjectsOnAndIn[]&perc; - Object Key "Player.WornAndHeld" not found***

*** Bad Function - Nothing output***

*** Bad Argument to &perc;ListObjectsOnAndIn[]&perc; - Object Key "Player.WornAndHeld" not found***

*** Bad Function - Nothing output***
You are wearing some clothes and a fur coat, and are carrying a leather pouch, a lamplighter and an unlit oil lamp.

What can be causing the above?

Note: I get the above error message straight away in "Fortress of Fear".

Damn, sorry. I must have made the inventory change before the Object Oriented change. For now, if you edit the Inventory task in the standard library (Tasks - Uncategorised folder) and delete the "Items inside worn/held" tab from the description, it should resolve. You may want to do that anyway, depending whether you want to have items within items held/worn listed.

I'll get a patch out in the next day or so which resolves the immediate problems from this release.

Thanks. I have done that now and it is great that the Inventory command no longer shows objects within the containers you are carrying! :D

Okay, the above links should now contain 5.0.26.1. This corrects the following bugs introduced in this version:

  • Upgrading a version prior to 5.0.26 will now prompt whether you want to upgrade the logic. This basically converts A AND B OR C restrictions to A AND (B OR C)
  • Locations Properties screen fixed
  • Allow "the" object aliases again
  • Trizbort (and in fact any) locations should now go to the Locations window
  • Implemented WornAndHeld function
Please let me know if you find anything else.

Thanks for this release. Highlights for me being property indenting and the ability to use OR in object lists.

A couple of things:
When selecting text if the whole text is selected (using the mouse) the last character is always missed (ctrl a works fine though)

%objects%.Description no longer works with multiple objects, you get Object1|Object2.Description.

I have a variable that sets to %Player%.CharacterAtLocation this now gives a Bad Expression error in runner.

Also if I have a text property and display multiple objects %objects%.propertyname this displays oddly.

Object text 1. And object text 2.

If I remove the full stop from the property texts this displays as:

Object text 1 and object text 2.

Ok, sorry. I rewrote the object oriented stuff from scratch in this release, so there are a few teething issues. I'll fix that soon.

Is that different from before? How would you expect properties from a list of objects to display? ADRIFT auto-capitalises after a full stop, which will be what is happening above.

The AND in

Object text 1. And object text 2

has been added by ADRIFT. I would expected the output to be either Object text 1. Object text 2. or preferable (as an option?)

Object text 1.

Object text 2.

If I have three objects the output is

Object 1 text., object 2 text. And object 3 text
