5.0.30 out now!

Postby Campbell » Fri Mar 29, 2013 4:56 pm

ADRIFT 5 release 30 is now available for download. There are two Windows downloads available. If you have not tried v5 yet, the easiest way is to download the full setup from http://www.adrift.co/files/ADRIFT5Setup.zip. If you already have a working version, you can download the files only version from http://www.adrift.co/files/ADRIFT5.zip and overwrite your existing files. (I'll try to get an auto-update working soon!). There is also a separate download for the Help file at http://www.adrift.co/files/ADRIFTHelp.zip (This is included in the setup package).

Please note that the Setup download from download.com may take a few days to update with the latest version, so you may want to use the mirror link.

I have detailed the enhancements over on the News page.

That's odd - I am sure I was able to create a new folder yesterday using v.5.0.30?!

A fabulous release :thanks:
I had become a bit stuck with my game as there were some things I wanted to do that I could not get to work, but with the fixes to the item functions and the new group functions I am now making good progress.
This also means that I am back working on my libraries and should be able to publish some soon.
I also found a good use for the private properties. I have a "World" object that contains many global properties for the game as a whole which are not relevant to other objects, so now they are private to that object they no longer clutter-up all the other objects.

Is there any reason why the generated keys are only 8 characters?
The standard library has much longer keys, and as it is quite common to have multiple tasks with similar names I am getting lots of clashing keys that are only distinguished by the number on the end.

The key-prefix has also stopped working, so I can't really use this for creating a library as it will probably clash with keys in the library-users game.

Should a key contain a % symbol?
If you make a task for the command "burn %object%" and don't give it a name, then ADRIFT automatically copies "burn %object%" into the task name field and uses that to create the key "Burn%obj"

Not especially. I had to pick a length and thought 8 would be sufficient. I can increase this though.

Ah, whoops. I will fix that.

saabie wrote:Should a key contain a % symbol?
No. I don't think it really matters, but it's not good form. I noticed the same happens for ' symbols. I should really restrict to alphanumeric characters.

Excellent!

Excellent again! :)

No, but a left square bracket certainly matters.
I just made a task for the command:
search [room/location/area]
Letting it copy that to the task name generated the key "Search[r" which then caused ADRIFT to throw an exception (parsing "Search[r" - Unterminated [] set.) every time I tried to open any task, location or object until I deleted this task.
