5.0.31 out now

Postby Campbell » Sun Aug 25, 2013 10:50 pm

It has been a little while since the last release, but I have finally gotten around to getting an update out. Full details can be found over on the News page.

If downloading the full version, be sure to click on the Mirror link, as Download.com will take a few days to update to the new version.

Rather than only allowing you to Set variables to a value (which means having to write a function when increasing or decreasing the value of a variable), you can simply select Increase or Decrease from the first dropdown on the Variable Action screen, like so:

Tasks can now refer to Referenced Items, rather than just Referenced Objects or Referenced Characters. A Referenced Item is either a Location, Object or Character that the player referred to in the command.

THANK YOU :D

A potential pitfall to backwards compatibility:

1) An author, working in ADRIFT 5.0.31, creates a property Foo. (Not sure offhand of a good property name that would work well with the below...)
2) At some point, the author filters a list for objects having property Foo by adding .Foo to a list expression.
3) The author tests and releases the game with 5.0.31.
4) Time passes.
5) ADRIFT 5.0.40 adds a list function Foo.
6) Somebody plays the game on ADRIFT 5.0.40.

How would Runner treat the place where it evaluated that .Foo expression?

:bravo:
An amazing release.
Every bug that was preventing me from working on my libraries and games has been fixed.
There are so many new enhancements that it is going to take months just to try them all out.
Everyone needs to download this version.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
But the Set Properties Action seems to be broken (in 5.0.31.1 and 5.0.31.2 - Its OK in 5.0.31.0)
Clicking the house icon gives "List type of nothing!" and all 3 drop-down lists are empty.

While your at it, shouldn't there be default folders for Synonym's and User Functions?
At the moment they are being saved to a random folder including the desktop folder.

The new increment syntax, eg. "Increase variable Score by '11' " does not seem to be incrementing the MaxScore variable, whereas "Set Score to '%Score% + 11' " does.

Sorry to sound stupid.. But is I go to the top here and download the new update, will the patch be included or do I have to look for it elsewhere?

Seems the new version of the editor doesn't want to load games made with version 4?
