850kb? Bah, that's nothing. I won't even get out of bed for anything less than 1mb!

Its looking like it will cross that threshold eventually.

I personally haven't gotten out of bed at all for this game. I have my butler do it for me.

Skybreak is now at 950kb, with over 4,000 tasks and 275 locations. The three "storylines" will probably be done this weekend...

...after that, it's just a mad dash to see how many other things I can add before the next round of playtesting. The game has already gone through two rounds of testing, but it requires a lot given its size (and my own capacity for screwing things up).

If anyone from the ADRIFT community is willing to test it, please say so below. I plan to start testing ~august 28th, giving me a month to fix stuff up before the comp.

When you do test this game (or any other adrift game) please write a review.
You can always mention that this review is done during beta testing if you feel there's a need to do so.
But this way we will be sure that there will be reviews for new games.

Skybreak has finished its third round of playtesting. It might get a fourth in the 2 weeks we have left. I've made most of the bugfixes that playtesters identified

Some last minute additions
* A few new unexplored systems. The total number of unique locations is now over 275, with an additional 25 "stock" planets that represent unexplored but basically uninteresting worlds with only a few things to do.
* A major reworking of the galactic map, because players were getting trapped in the same "blob" of worlds too often...also there were some places that players didn't get to see enough...and some other places that players simply never got to see at all. The new "map" is much more distributed, allowing players to move slightly more freely through space and time
* I added starbases to 3 systems. Docking at these starbases results in a bunch of really niche and weird encounters, this was done to fix some issues with the game "economy" where some resources felt useless. Starbases provide new uses for Biodata, forgotten lore, forbidden lore, and coffee; and new ways to get anecdotes...they also allow you to fly combat missions against enemies.
* Every character now comes pre-generated with a randomly assigned "sidequest", completing it will result in another such sidequest. This was done to give players more things to do while working toward their main goal.

All that's left to do now is add the help and credit options, and make the manual. I might also add a few more options for stat-boosting, but I like that stat boosts in this game feel exceptionally rare and valuable

Skybreak is out. Final size is about 1.134 MB, or just a hair under 1MB with a single image.

I have uploaded a version of Skybreak to the ADRIFT main site, so it can be played/reviewed by the ADRIFT community there.

Good luck to all IFCOMP contestants!
