The way things are progressing with D-Day, you might get disqualified for failing to finish it within a century of first announcing it. There were adults who were newborn babes when this game was announced. Mars had life. Michael Jackson was black.

:)

Just sayin'.

Hmmm Maybe reviving the (in)famous slapping thread wouldn't be such a bad idea at this point... :?

A bit of "sad" news but a glimpse of hope :|
I will not be able to finish JaF in time to enter the If Comp this year. There's simply too much work to do and on top of that there's the beta testing afterwards.
The good news is that I plan on entering both JaF AND (hold on to your hats  ) D-DAY next year.

Ok, I'm back in the saddle again.
After having beta tested Denk's game for the Annual IF Comp I am continuing the work on JaFT.
As you all probably know it's not easy to go back to a wip after having been away for a while. First you have to get back "in the game" then you try to incorporate all the great ideas for puzzles and locations you have thought of while being away and then you can continue.
Well, part one had been accomplished. I'm "back in the game" and now I'm playing through it trying to fit in all the ideas I've had while I was away.
So far the stats are:

Just a Fairy Tale stats:
Size: 57,8Kb
Locs: 35
Objs: 138

Is that edit time correct? 82 hours for a 57kb game seems a lot.

I rest my case 8)
I have no idea how the developer is measuring the time. Is it from when you open the game in the developer til you close it, or what?
But this is what I got when I checked property.

Isn't it just the most annoying thing?
You begin a location. Nothing important, it just needs to be there to make a flow in the game. And then before you know it the little thing has suddenly grown to a monster with a life of its own
In JaFT the player needs some gold to bribe someone. So I decided to make a bank like they have in Harry Potter. It should be simple, mind you. Get in get the gold and then get out again. Yeah, right!
As I was creating the objects in the bank I suddenly came up with this great puzzle on how to get in and out of the bank. Then one day when I was out walking the dog, another puzzle popped up about how to actually get the gold. All of this was too good to just let go, so it has now been incorporated into the game.
But that is how the games grow. They sneak up on you and then take over! :peep:

Update: October 11, a rainy day…

I have reached the halfway mark. Or so I hope. As I mentioned in another post these things has a nasty habit of sneaking up on you.
I'm on the other side of the maze. Don't worry, it's just a small one and if you have the right object you will be through it in no time.
What is left now, is to get the player to the castle and free the wizard.

Size: 65,1Kb
Locations: 36
Objects: 153 (most of them useful… I think)
Tasks: 125 (203 incl. libs.)
Characters: 6
Events: 1
Variables 12 (14 Incl. libs.)
Total items: 333 (413 Incl. libs.)

Total editing time: 126 Hrs 5 Min.

Haven't checked the updates on this in awhile, nice to see it's still coming along.

Nice to read you're having fun with the puzzles. I think I've completely forgotten the art of designing those, if I ever knew in the first place....

Update: Dec 9 2019.
I have reached the magic number 70 Kb.and I'm about halfway through my game. That is, as far as I know. This game seems to develop as I go along and I keep getting new ideas (brillitant once, of course :yeah: )
I've had to slow down a bit on working on my game. My PC (Computer, not player character rofl ) had a break down and I am currently working on a laptop where the Space key is only working when it feels like it (Who says that the computers aren't taking over? )
So I have to constantly go back and separate Words. :x

This sounds a lot like my Galen's Quest game that I uploaded to WIP. Can't wait to play it to see how much we think alike. :)

Hey P/o Prune, I've got a laptop just like yours. Mine is an ASUS Ultrabook with a touchscreen that I got before I retired.
I think it is a product of where (and how big) the spacebar is when typing and trying not to hit the "mouse"pad.

Good writing. I hope the PC is back in business by now.

Unfortunately it's not. I'm waiting for a friend of mine to get me a new one. Until then I have managed to reinstall Win10 with only the most essential programs (one of which is Adrfit (of course) so I am able to go on the net, check mail etc.
