I've just started playing around with the unregistered version of adrift 4 and being thinking of registering ,but with 5 in development I was woundering how much of 4 I will have to unlearn after switching to 5.

Will I be better off waiting for Adrift 5 and starting from scratch or will the transition from 4 to 5 be easy?

Works in ADRIFT 4 should port well into v5.

Even if it weren't so, my answer to you is still,"Don't wait-- make your art now!"

I second that... The developing of V.5 is a great learning period for us users. There are so many people involved and if you had access to the V.5 section pf this forum, you'd see how many posts there is about various issues.

I've worked with V.4 and I have tried to convert a V.4 game into V.5. I seem to remember that it went pretty well but,
I'd say that if I had to do that, I'd probably wait untl V.5 was up and running.. at least Beta state just to be sure.

There's also the third option. Don't use 4 or wait for 5. You can use 5 now if you register. I'm new at this too and that's what I'm doing. I figure the benefits of not having to learn the software twice will balance out the annoyance of a few bugs.

Well it's not so much converting ver 4 games to ver 5 as much as having to learn how to use the program all over again. Will ADRIFT 5 be the same as 4 only with new features but operate the same as as older versions or will it be completely different?

It pretty much operates the same as V.4, with tasks, event etc. etc. but the V.5 can do so much more than the old V.4

I would say go to Adrift 5 and stick with it if you're a noob (like me) since the bugs are critical in making a good release (that is, if you report them :p)
