I have to write a diary in my game, and I need some help to find out which font is best suited for the purpose.
I do have a few in mind, such as "Invitation" - "signature" - "Cotillon" - "Chauser" and "Mariah"
Here's the deal......

The owner of this diary, is a young guy 16 - 17 year old. He lived in the old west, back in the years 1880 - 1890, so his writing should show this of course.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

I've never heard of any of those fonts and don't have them installed on my computer so irrespective of which one you use, it'd probably just default to Times New Roman or Arial on my computer anyway. I bet the same would apply to most people.

I agree with what David says. If the font were freely available then you could give the option to download it, but would have to understand that many wouldn't bother.

I see your point.. The reason I asked though, was because the last time I wrote this diary (before it all got erased, it showed up ok in the runner, So I naturally thought it would show up on all computers....

It'll show up fine on your computer because you have those fonts installed. But anyone playing the game on a computer that doesn't have them installed will just see the text in Adrift's default font (Arial).

You could bundle the appropriate fonts in a ZIP file with your game?

Thanks, Bondo!

Yes, I thought about that, but then people wpuld have to unzip it and install it with their "Words" and I am not sure people would go through all that.
I have found a solution, though. In stead of writing the diary, I will just explain what it says when the player types "read diary" It takes away from the overall atmosphere, I think. But it sure is less work for me. :dancer:

I thought you could just dump the font file into the font folder in the control settings?

There is also the issue of copyright. Font files are copyright, and you can't distribute them without permission. Same as using copyright music in your games.

You could have it as an image, rather than text.
