Where do most of you guys find your horror reading nowadays*? Most of mine I find online, especially the shorter length type of stuff that I like, though I do have some friends that have put print collections of horror in front of me recently (one recently bought this amazing book). I've found a couple of great blogs for short fiction that produce a lot, like MicroHorror.com and Bosley Gravel's Cavalcade of Terror-- the latter also being a fun one to say. Dailysciencefiction.com also releases a horror story from time to time, so long as it's SF-themed. I read a good one in their "Robots & Computers" section just yesterday called "Autopsy." 'Twas juicy!

I'm also a bit excited that I just recently ordered a second copy of Thomas Ligotti's non-fiction work, The Conspiracy Against the Human Race. I'd lost my other copy somewhere, sadly enough, before I could finish it. I'm gonna go ahead and say he's my favorite modern horror writer at the moment. Yet I feel a rambling coming on, so perhaps it's best if I pause here for the moment.

Woo, horror!

*where you find your horror in life is another thing entirely, but probably an equally interesting question

Raising this thread from the dead (using spoooooky ghost magic) to post a link to ichor falls for anyone who's never been there. Hasn't been updated in a long long time, unfortunately, but it's a great collection of high quality horror short fiction. (Candle Cove is actually pretty well known and I guess the best place to start)

and the unfortunately weirdly-named "Salutations."

Hey now, them's fightin words. I like my title. It's not my problem you apparently had a horrible deprived childhood that never featured Charlotte's Web. 8)

Thanks for the links, Lumin. "Candle Cove" was a good read, if not so good an idea for a children's show, apparently. I really liked the format of the story. I just don't think the last post is as effective for me as it could've been, but I'm sure everyone differs in their interpretations. That's pretty normal for art.

I didn't intend to say anything mean-spirited about your title. My major criticism is that the comparison to Charlotte's Web isn't visible in the game-- I would hardly compare the terrifying spider in your game to little, ol' Charlotte. To that extent, if I hadn't played the game and didn't know what it was about, the title wouldn't do much to set my expectations. After getting into the game, it feels a bit like a non sequitur. But I'll emphasize that I thought the game itself wedded a delightfully scary surprise with a challenging, well-made puzzle. There's much to be proud of there, especially for a Speed-IF.

Hey, speaking of horror stuff, has anyone played the re-release of Back Home yet?

James Webb has had 4-- count 'em, 4!-- new stories posted at MicroHorror.com: "Good News," "Good Samaritan," "Well Wisher," and "Bent Coppers." Give them a read and a comment if you get a chance. I'm always happy to see fellow 'DRIFTers getting published. :D
