So far, I've been killed by a dwark. I don't know yet how to get past it.
Spoiler
I tried doing something with the snow to hide my body heat, but I can't find a command that will work. Taking the snow, burrowing into the snow, hiding in the snow, etc.

Great game but I am stuck. Is this the right place to ask for hints? I cannot get into the farmyard due to the dog. Also, I cannot buy beer with my gold coin and I am lacking a sieve. Thanks :)

It certainly is! See below.
Spoiler
What happens here is a chaining puzzle. Go to the cottage south of the crossroads and ask Edwina where you can get a sieve. When you have done that you should be able to get into the farmyard. Once you have found Edwina's key, she will reward you.

Is that accurate? I might be remembering it wrong - it's been a good few years after all - but I played The Axe of Kolt myself and I don't seem to recall it was "incredibly hard to find" or released on a "very obscure label".

Exactly my thoughts too. I was aware of Adventure Probe Software and the Adventure Probe magazine run by Barbara Gibb but didn't think it was that rare! In any case the recent remake by Larry must be miles better.

Blimey, £50 for one of my games, the original was about £3 ! If I had charged £50 back then I'd be a millionaire!!

I suppose that compared to the big commercial software companies such as Magnetic Scrolls, Robico and Level 9, we were fairly obscure. However, we weren't obscure to the text-adventuring community that flourished at the time.

The example on sale is a late one, as I wound up FSF Adventures once the 16-bit computers, with their all-singing, all-dancing graphic adventures such as "The Secret of Monkey Island", became available. I gave all my games to Barbara Gibb to sell as a thank you for all the help she'd given me over the years.
