2016 Annual Adrift Comp.

Postby Po. Prune » Thu Dec 31, 2015 8:30 am

I think it's time that Adrift moves up to its rightful place (amongst the best :yeah: )
So whether you like it or not there will be an "Adrift End of the Year" competition this year (2016)

1st prize: 20 usd
2nd prize: 10 usd
3rd prize: 5 usd

Prize money will be paid either through paypal or Amazon voucher which ever would be preferred.
Donations for prizes are generously accepted. and will be divided depending on the amount and the number of games entered.

The Rules of engagement is as follows:

1: Game must be written in either Adrift V4 or V5
2. Must be an original work.
3. Must be released in 2016
4. Judging will last a month (or shorter if we only get a few games, or longer if we get loads.
6. Authors are allowed to vote in the comp, but not for their own games.
7. Voting is on a 1 - 10 scale.
8. Games can be password protected or not. It's up to the author.
9. Voting will be anonymous, but voters are encouraged to state why they voted the way they did and write reviews
10. Voters aren't required to play all the games in the comp but it's recommended that they play as many as possible.

So, in fact all you have to do to qualify is write an game and release it. (Upload it to the Adrift Games section) How easy can it get?

I realize that perhaps the competition should be run in 2017 in order to allow games released in December 2016 a chance. But but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

When is the deadline?

How many people have signed up or expressed interest?

The dead line is December 31st.

To answer both your last questions at the same time: Absolutely No one!
But then again. Nobody has to sign up or express interest since all Adrift games released in 2016 will automatically participate. In the beginning of January I will go through the games list on the Adfrift Webpage and make a poll with all the games released in 2016.
I'm thinking about pushing the end of voting to 1st February 2017, so games released late in 2016 will have a fair chance to get evaluated.

I want to know what rule 5 is. Something sinister perhaps?

Not really ... Rule 5 is that games can only be won if the author has an Ø in their last name.... rofl

We're getting close to the end of the year and so far 8 Adrift games has been released this year.
Voting will take place in January and the scores will be announced primo February.
If you want to submit a game, you have to upload it to the upload section on the Adrift website before December 31st.

Sorting the games section by date, I come to the conclusion that 8 games have been released this year, whereas you wrote 6. I Wonder if any of the games do not fulfill the rules and in that case why?

I like the idea of the competition, so I am a bit curious: Has the competition been cancelled or is it just delayed?
