I feel a tad embarrassed for even trying to ask this, considering I could probably find a way if I hassle with it a bunch, but asking never hurt, right?
Kay, so I was thinking. You know the lines in the game that respond to half-written commands? Like, "eat Elliot" for some reason brings up "I don't know what you're trying to eat". (That's for another time.)
Is there any way to edit this, so it says something like "Dude, you can't eat that." without making it a task?
Then again, I'm a total loser to this program as it stands.

Welcome to Adrift.. There's nothing wrong in asking questions, and there are no such thing as a stupid question. So go ahead...
I take it that you are using Adrift V.4?
In that case you can use the ALR which allows you to change the default responses.
I don't know what you're trying to eat.|Dude, you can't eat that.
You write this in the notebook, and then import is as an ALR file into the generator.
D-Day in progress 86Kb (Slowly drifting) October 31st: 70Kb (possible entry for IFComp 2021 )
I don't know what you're trying to eat.|Dude, you can't eat that.
The part on the left of the | is what what you want to change. The part on the right is what you want to change it to.
Remember to save your file with .alr on the end. Then, in the Generator, go to "File>Import>Language Resource." Select your file and save, then run your game and it should work!
Also remember that the part to the left of the line has to be the exact text you want to change.
Somewhere on the website is a list of the system commands/responses that Mystery put together a few years ago. Sorry - i dont ha ethe link.

send me a private message and I'll send you the files (I found them on my system). I have zipped the three files and you can use them for reference.
