Re: Making my collection available for everyone
Maybe you could just post a list somewhere of all the games in your collection. That way, if there's something in there people are after, they can contact you about it.

How's this for a seriously late reply?
A list would be hard to keep updated, harder to generate. I've had some people PM me asking "Do you have so-and-so? I've looked for it but the links are down". And I did. I expect that's as much as I can do.
The beauty of the system I had was that it was easy to maintain. I just synched my whole collection over to MegaUpload, and added exception filters where appropriate.
Anything that takes more dedication than that is something I'm likely to stop doing in the long run...

So disappointed people complained about your collection. Doesn't preserving digital heritage mean anything to those people?

Re: Making my collection available for everyone
Not that I was told, but it's possible that it had to do with my inclusion of Sub-Q games. It was a while before I realised I was breaching something by doing that.
Of course, for some people it's easier to report and have the whole thing taken down than to let me know so that I'd just remove them. A couple of authors specifically asked that I not list their games, and one of them even said not to include any of his future games. I was respecting their wishes up until someone brought out the sledgehammer.

Hey, so this is an old old thread, but does anyone still the download from before it got taken down? I guess mine was lost with my old computer but it used to be cool having all these ancient obscure IF games at my fingertips even if I did never get around to playing the things.
I guess I can try to hunt Pears down somewhere but I seem to recall something about him quitting the community entirely.

I do have a 2Gb RAR file on a USB stick with me on holiday. I could look to loading it up some where for you once I get home next month if you still haven't got it from someone else in the meantime.

please, send them to me too if you have this usb stick yet!
Re: Making my collection available for everyone
No idea if I ever kept this. Most games are available on IFDB though and there will quite a few created in the last 4-5 years. Try looking there. You can search extensively for genres you are interested in.
Re: Making my collection available for everyone
I'd forgotten about this thread, but the appeal for me was browsing through some of the more obscure stuff from the distant past, a lot of which may not be on the IFDB at all.
