Re: Sir Clive Sinclair dies at aged 81

I remember plenty of heated debates between my friends about which was better, the Spectrum or the Commodore. Needless to say, this all depended on which one you had. I had both so I ended up in both camps at one time. Saying that, it's always the Spectrum I have the fondest memories of. The rubber ...

Re: Sir Clive Sinclair dies at aged 81

Oh you would not have popular at my school. The Spectrum kids hated the Commodore kids and the Commodore kids hated the Spectrum kids, but everyone hated the BBC kids.

Re: Sir Clive Sinclair dies at aged 81

I heard about this. Sad news. Back in the day, I was a Speccy lad, complete with its rubber cheap-as-chips keyboard. I used to look down my nose with disdain at the Commodore crowd. Sure the Commodore might have looked better but everyone knew Spectrums were better. Later on, I got a Commodore mysel...

Re: IFComp 2021?

I'm recovering but it's certainly taking its sweet time. I can type but it's painfully slow, so finishing off my game, probably a week or so, is taking ages. But I'll get there one day. Of course, it doesn't help matters much that this is my first game written from scratch in v5 so I'm finding stuff...

Re: IFComp 2021?

I was hoping to enter this year (with the game I originally planned to enter last year) but unfortunately typing much is a bit beyond me right now and there's a lot of my game which needs fixing. So hopefully next year.

Re: Newsletter on retro text adventures

I know I'm in danger of turning into one of those "things were better when I was a lad" but, damn it, it was better.

Re: Newsletter on retro text adventures

I've signed up. I've been on a retro trip for so long that when I first started, retro was the 'new' thing.

Re: Some new CYOAs

Now I understand. I wonder if this is how my sister feels when somebody tells her a joke, she doesn't get it, they have to explain it and she inevitably says "that's not funny". 🤕

I still have no idea what you're talking about but I look forward to seeing where this goes.

Re: concern about adrift future

I wouldn't worry too much about a response from Campbell. At this stage, I'd be gobsmacked if he responded with anything positive. Heck, even a negative response would be more than we usually get.

So what's the verdict from Campbell? Have we heard from him?

Re: Looking at entire map in Adrift 4?

Can't you just open it in V5 and look at the map there?

Saying that, I think F2 brings up the map in v4.

Re: concern about adrift future

I'm not being funny here but people have been asking Campbell about this for over a decade and all we've got is being ignored. You yourself have said you've contacted him numerous times about various issues without a response. If Campbell is intending to work on Adrift again, the least he could do i...

Re: concern about adrift future

Long before people start talking about regular donations, I think there needs to be some concrete indication from Campbell that he's planning to work on Adrift again. For a decade now he's been largely absent from the forum, no one knows what if anything is going on with Adrift and while I can appre...
