Re: Game Update

 Well, looks like you've run into what usually happens to all of us at one point or the other. Real life suddenly shows its ugly face messing up every well laid plan. I think that we all have experienced the "getting stuck" thingy for various reasons. My best advice is to leave the game and j...

Game Update

Hello guys :) I thought I'd let you know that the game I'm currently making is growing out of his womb, some delays occured (as it always is) for a couple of reasons, one of those is worth it though :) The boring thing is that I'm suddently on the move... I'm gonna offset my current position of abou...

Re: Comparing Two Variables Returns an error

If you can send me an example, I can see if ADRIFT is doing anything incorrectly. Sorry Campbell I haven't been able to recreate that error and the scene of it is long gone, anyway, I'm sure it was only given by my ignorance, I must have mingled so hard with adrift that god only knows what I'd scre...

I ended up doing just that, cheers mate :)

Re: Timed Event Option Missing

Hi all, Is it only me or has the "timed event" option been removed from Events, either on purpose or by accident? Can someone please confirm it is missing from the Events tab in their copy of ADRIFT. Thanks. I sure don't have such option unless I just don't see it since I'm still a drifter noob.

Absolute Reference

Hey guys :) May I ask you kindly to correct the following string for me? I've been trying a few ways but I cannot seem to get it right, all I need is for the result to be absolute. A task Action is executing -> SET VariableX = ABS(%VariableY[RAND(1,10)]%) Of course VariableY, which is -1 keeps howin...

Re: Probability Calculation

You'd have to give a little more description of the problem for anybody to be answer your question. If you're having the player call a coin flip, then you've made things way over-complicated. If the player's in a game of Texas Hold-em, then that's probably about as good as you're going to get. oh m...

Probability Calculation

Hi again guys, :) the game is coming out really great but I wonder about my latest approach on a gameplay section. I am setting up a task object with WIN/LOSE probabilities, it's getting there, I'm actually almost done, but the amount of work required, with lots of tasks and variables in use makes m...

Re: Maybe a Bug?

Now I understand. I-m pretty pleased about being able to change the font face for locations though, it turned out very helpful for my project.

Maybe a Bug?

Hey guys :) Not sure if this if a bug or if it's meant to be like this, or even if it's just how it is. Personally it doesn't bother me that much but I thought I'd let you know. Basically when I add a font to a location name, the location name itself will become the whole string of code <font face="...

Re: Comparing Two Variables Returns an error

Following your instructions I was not able to get the errors you mentioned, I simply got the "variables did not match." message every time. You seem to be trying to execute the contents of a text variable as though it were an expression, something which most real programming languages can't do. I s...

Re: What's the future of parser IF?

To be honest IFs had always been in my mind since I had played some when I was a child, mind me though, I was so young that I can't even remember what games they were or what they talked about, I can't recall if they were on dos or windows either. I remember in particular one where I would get lost ...

Re: What's the future of parser IF?

On the contrary I believe that IFs will become more popular in the next years, I think that the reason they are not as popular right now has to do about the time in which they came into existence , a time in which a game was something alien, still now there's a war against gaming and sharing, as it ...

Re: What is the avarage size of an IF

Thanks a lot guys, I am very pleased to see you all so kindly warm, and thanks for the welcome. I feel bad not introducing myself but I didn't see a section for it so I just skipped that part, but I'll make up for it at the end of this post :) I have chosen adrift as my first ever IF program through...
