I'd say it's not a bad idea, so long as the deadline is before the IF Comp games are released. It will be a nice warm-up act for it.

Just a thought but people from Int Fiction might not have ADRIFT on their computers, so they won't be able to play the games as they are in the zipfile. Maybe the games should be exported into Executables for those people?

Unless I am missing something, the link provided in Po.Prune's message on the Int Fiction forum doesn't take you to the actual location of the games.

I know, it'll be the ADRIFT page hiding the form arguments. I posted just to clarify.

I just found the link and tried playing my entry online - to my horror the title page picture does NOT display when playing online!! Can this be fixed somehow? The title page does not look very good without the "Axe of Kolt" picture and this may cost me votes.

Ah, ok. Sorry, I didn't realise anyone was using graphics in the intros. WebRunner doesn't support graphics yet, but is on my shortlist for things to do soon.

I'd hate to think a tex adventure would lose votes because the title graphic was missing. That's akin to a novel getting a negative review because the reader disliked the cover picture.

For me, as I have ADRIFT set up to not display pictures, I didn't even realise there was a picture on the title page.

Surely you can understand that it is a bit annoying when one has spent a bit of time making the title page look good. If I had known the webrunner wasn't set up for graphics - and there are players such as yourself actually turn the graphics off - I would have spent some time creating the title page with html codes. The title page picture for "The Axe of Kolt" is from the original Spectrum version. When I showed it to Campbell when we met last year he said it was great - very retro! Now I dunno why I why bothered.

Annoying maybe, but something that is likely to cost you votes? I wouldn't have thought so. And I really hope people judging text adventures don't judge a game on its title page graphic. If they do, they're kinda missing the point.
