You just type the numbers like "1234" (not that 1234 is the solution, and don't include the quotes either).

The solution is found via the paintings. Try moving each one in turn. You'll see two numbers behind each, separate by a dash. It's the second number of each that needs to be entered in the "1234" format.

How can you move each one in turn? I can only differentiate one of the paintings the 'one of the shadow' - otherwise I can't do anything with them.

I think if you type "move painting", it asks you which one and then lists all four.

Nope, just says 'Please be more specific.' If I 'x painting' it lists only the one with the shadow. If I 'x shadow' it mentions that the others are landscapes, but if put 'x landscapes' the 'I see no such thing.' Same for every other combination of words I've tried regarding the landscapes.

All I've done in the cabin is light the fireplace. Is there another action that will reveal the other paintings? Alternatively, can you give me the numbers so I can at least finish the game? Thanks for the help :D

"x painting" is definitely the command you need.
> x painting
Which painting. The city, the mountain, the wood or the shadow?
